Validation and FDF preview
Before you submit a calculation, it is worth checking that the input is consistent and complete. The studio provides two tools for this: the Validation panel and the live FDF preview.
Validation panel
The Validation panel runs in real time as you edit parameters. It shows:
- A health score from 0–100 summarizing the overall input quality.
- Errors that would likely cause SIESTA to fail or produce wrong results.
- Warnings for settings that are technically valid but unusual.
- Info notices for optional improvements.
Most issues have a short explanation and a suggested fix. Clicking Fix applies the correction automatically.
FDF preview
The FDF preview pane on the right side of the editor shows exactly what will be written to disk. It updates as you change any parameter. You can:
- Copy the full FDF text to the clipboard.
- Download the file directly from the preview toolbar.
- Edit blocks by hand — changes made in the text editor round-trip back into the panels for supported parameters.
